Start preparing for UPSC CSE with following steps :

Starts reading NCERT books (VI-XII) for basic understanding so that you will be habitual for more readings.

If you have interest to learn so many things from different fields then i am sure you will enjoy your preparation with NCERT Books. The fact is language & the way of explaining things in NCERT books is so simple & interesting. Everyone can understand easily.

Along with this, try to read editorials from the hindu newspaper. not just read, try to grasp about which it is explaining. just remember some key facts from editorials like reasons, consequences, prof/con. of something. from this thing, your reading comprehension ability will also enhance which will be the plus point for your CSAT paper 2.

Don't take all these things like a burden. After sometime you will feel some confidence. once you start your preparation taking it in interesting way, your confidence will be boosted.

Join any test series for prelims. according to test series schedule, try to attempt maximum no of tests. after that analysis is must, that in which areas you are legging behind. try to improve those areas.

Keep your study material as minimum as possible. its better to revise the topics from the same source rather than refering so many sources for the same topics.

Follow unacademy videos by Roman Saini Sir or on youtube. these videos will clear your doubts regarding CSE. when i thought about writing CSE just six- seven months before, i was completely confused that how should i start my preparation but after watching all these videos all problems have been solved. In the past few years the trend of UPSC Prelims has been towards factual instead of conceptual questions and towards more and more current affairs than static portion. That trend still continues but unlike last year when there were a disproportionately large no of Current Affairs and factual questions, this year there was renewed focus on conceptual and applied questions. Also, the questions tested knowledge across varied dimensions. The paper was definitely more difficult than last year. And consequently, the cut off also is going to come down.
